Blantayre solicits Greeners' aid

Democritus Blantayre, a candidate for Olympia City Council Position 2, stood on Red Square today to ask Evergreen students for a vote and hand out fliers. Blantayre advocates for a structure of direct democracy in the Olympia City Council and on a brochure calls himself an "anti-politician."

"All people should be able to decide the outcomes of government decisions," he said Friday. Ideally, Blantayre would like "transparency and oversight" in the government, and believes that "people should have privvy access to legislative information."

According to Blantayre, people in Olympia seem to be supportive of his campaign, and "Evergreen is even more in favor of it."

The Cooper Point Journal plans to follow up with a more in-depth interview with Blantayre and other City Council candidates. In the meantime, let us know in comments what you think of the candidates or what you would like to know about them.
