Police Blotter Feb 5-11

[submitted by Linda Horn of Police Services]

During the week of Feb 5th to the 11th, Police and Parking services assisted the campus with three escorts for safety and performed five unlocks of upper campus rooms. They also assisted with six jumpstarts for dead batteries.

Police & Parking services are now sending email surveys to all citizens that make use of their public services. They are very interested in your feedback.

Officers responded to five medical calls, one involving the use of marijuana. Officers provided on site treatment until aid units could respond for evaluation.

Officers were contacted in reference to drug paraphernalia; officers confiscated the item, which was later destroyed. Housing advised that they would handle the situation.

Parking services placed five boots for unpaid tickets. The boots were removed after fines were either paid or referred to Student Accounts.

Five incidents of malicious mischief (graffiti) were reported to police services. These incidents resulted in almost $500 damage. Most of the incidents appear to be similar to the prior malicious mischief on upper campus.

A subject was contacted for assaulting a student. The subject was referred to the Thurston County Prosecutor’s Office and for trespassing on campus. The person was advised how to remove the trespass notice and was escorted from campus.

Officers assisted Thurston County sheriff’s officer with a possible suicidal subject in an area just off campus.

They took one theft report from a student reporting that his canoe had been stolen again. The canoe had been on the beach just off Marine Dr and Sunset Dr.

A reminder to students about securing their property, labeling, and recording the serial numbers of the more expensive items: Police Services also has engravers to loan to students that would like to protect their property.
