Mr. President... (An open letter regarding political agendas and flawed policies)

So, I'm not a Catholic. I can't even recall the last time I set foot in a church. But this morning on the way into work, I heard on the radio (770am KTTH)  that the government ... yes, our beloved Obama-run government ... the one that promised us all hope and change with the mantra "yes we can," is now requiring Catholic employers to provide birth control and sterilization to their employees.
According to an Outsidethebeltway.com article written by Doug Mataconis, the sacred and sanctimonious “Obama Administration announced that it would enforce a rule that is part of the PPACA requiring employer-provided health care insurance to cover contraceptives even if the employer in question happens to be a religious institution that objects to contraception like the Roman Catholic Church … any Church-run hospital, school, or the like would have to comply” (Outsidethebeltway.com, 1/30/2012).
Does it seem appropriate for the government to dictate and enforce a rule that impacts a religious ideology, teachings and faith? Remind me what amendment in the Constitution gives Obama the right to force this mandate on a community, regardless of who this community is.
President Obama, if I may, aren’t there a few pressing issues you should be addressing before you push your political agenda on this social issue? Do you need help … ok, let’s play charades. I say nuclear and you say … no! not Socialism. Ok, let’s try again. I say budget and you say … no! not the cost of your next vacation. This isn’t working so well. Ok, last one (and this is a softball for ya), I say national security and you say … don’t be like this Mr. President, you do to know what national security means.
Iran is constantly saying how they are ready and willing to attack Israel (yes Mr. President, Israel is still our ally), you claim unemployment is down to 8.3% across the nation, but you decided not to count the 1.2 million who gave-up looking for work (Wnd.com, 2/5/2012). Your administration has spent $6.4 trillion dollars in three years (according to whitehouse.gov) … and you’re concerned about altering Catholic ideology so you can push your welfare type healthcare program onto the American people.
The real numbers are staggering; if only people could look past the façade you portray and take two minutes to verify what you’re saying (much like Cooper Point Journal graciously asked me to do for this opinion piece that does not represent the views of Cooper Point Journal or The Evergreen State College).
Mr. President, thank you for your service to your country and for being great role model for fathers. But Mr. President, your policies are flawed and are not in the best interest of the citizens of the US. You use Christian based rhetoric to gain support by suggesting Jesus Christ would approve of your tax hikes (The Baltimore Times, 2/7/2012) and you’ve manipulated the employment numbers so your followers blindly believe our economy is improving.
What you should be most ashamed of is creating a divide between classes of people. Your words against the upper-class are not intended to bring the lower class up, but to tear down the upper-class. In effect, you’re asking/telling the American people you want a single class of people … aka communism. Maybe this is where you feel you get the right to dictate your political agenda to the Catholic community.
