The Evergreen State men’s basketball team received an at-large bid to the NAIA national tournament in Point Lookout, Mo., that starts this week. The Geoducks (19-10 overall, 12-6 CCC) got their at-large bid despite being upset by Northwest University at home in the quarterfinals of the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament. The Geoducks will be the No. 14 seed and face No. 8 seed Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University of Daytona Beach, Fla. Embry is the Sun Conference Champion and boasts a 28-5 record coming into the tournament.

Three Geoduck basketball players received post-season honors from the Cascade Collegiate Conference this past week for their outstanding play over the course of the 2009-10 season. On the women’s side, Latrina Woods was named to her first All-CCC team as well as CCC Newcomer of the Year. Woods averaged 13.8 points a game and 4.4 rebounds per game while accumulating 45 steals on the season. The junior transfer from Skyway, Wash., finished the season second in minutes played (34.07/gm) and sixth in scoring (13.8/gm). Two Geoduck men also received post-season accolades from the CCC.
