Just one day after receiving Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Player of the Week for the third time of the 2009-10 season, Nate Menefee was announced as National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Player of the Week.
Both awards were given to Menefee as a result of his outstanding play over the past weekend against Concordia University of Portland and the nationally ranked Warner Pacific College. The former, Menefee torched for 38 points in a 107-97 blowout while he added 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Menefee’s 38 point performance marked the seventh time he’s scored over 30 points in a game this season. Against the WPC Knights, Menefee had 25 points, 4 rebounds and 5 steals. In two games, the senior Geoduck team captain managed to scorch his opponents with 63 points, 8 rebounds, 8 steals, and 7 assists. The Tacoma native also played every minute of both games accumulating 80 minutes out of a possible 80.
Menefee leads the CCC in points per game as the only player in the conference averaging over 20 points per game with 27.5. The next closest player is WPC’s Jake Glisson with 19.1 per game. Menefee also leads the conference in steals with 55 total this year, averaging 2.89 a game.
Nationally, the Geoduck senior ranks among the top 30 in three major categories, points (3rd), steals (14th) and assists (28th).
