As the final hours of rehearsal fade away, the cast of this year's production of The Vagina Monologues continues to put the final touches on their performance. Last night after dress rehearsal, directors Cari Pendergrass & Sam Cori discussed last minute tweaks with the talented cast. They discussed, among other things, vocal projection and the possibility of lobbing projectiles into the audience at a key moment in the play. Glitter? Too messy. Dental dams? Perhaps, but there runs the risk of hitting someone in the eye.
As the old students make way for the new, there is one important history that needs to be passed on regarding tuition rates; last June, it was decided that in-state tuition would increase by 15%, and out-of-state by 5% each year, for two consecutive years-- for the second biennium cycle in a row since the college Board of Trustees did the same for 2009-11 school years.
Now until February 27th in the Library on the 1st floor, just outside Photoland, faculty member Bob Haft's photography exhibit "Omiyage" Souvenirs from Kobe will be showing. Official press release:

If you grew up in the 80's, played NES games as a kid, liked to skateboard, watched Ninja Turtles, or dreamed of being a surfer in California, then chances are you would probably enjoy the music of James Ferraro. That might sound pretentious, but any fan of his music would understand that sentiment completely. To put it more plainly, if you like experimental or electronic chillwave, ambient or drone artists like Aphex Twin, Neon Indian, Washed Out, Flying Lotus, or even bands like Velvet Underground or Red Crayola, then you will most likely dig James Ferraro.
The Evergreen campus Facilities Services is working toward campus energy conservation, as well as campus waste reduction.  Irene Hinkle is our Resource Conservation Coordinator, a job funded by a grant from Puget Sound Energy.  This power company supports its commercial customers to conserve energy in order to eliminate the need for increased infrastructure such as dams and power plants.  However infrastructure does not have to be a bad thing, if it is conducted in an intelligently designed way.  Infra

Evergreen Trail Map w/ New Mountain Bike Trail
In the northern portion of the Evergreen woods, on a distant arm of the beach trail that begins at the F parking lot, greener mountain bike enthusiasts are constructing an elaborate mountain bike trail. On a steep downhill slope between the trail and the shore, student volunteers are clearing a path and carving features in the otherwise dense woodland. For thrill seekers, the trail will include several large jumps built out of natural materials. While many informal mountain bike trails already exist in the woods, this will be the most sophisticated.
Some people say Macklemore is not 'real' hip-hop. Some say his lyrics are contrived; his songs are mediocre. But there's something about him that makes his concert worthwhile, even if you're not there for the music: Macklemore (née Ben Haggerty) knows Olympia.
