Different team, same result

One week after both the men’s and women’s soccer teams suffered defeats on the road, they were back in action at home. The men and women both faced the Northwest Eagles in a Cascade Conference match up.

Both Geoduck teams wore pink socks to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness, and they all faced stiff competition with the Eagles men’s team in second place and the women's in first place.

When the games started it was a repeat from last weekend. The women endured a heartbreaking loss after gaining the lead with 14 minutes left, and the game looked to be over. However, the Eagles rallied and grabbed the equalizer with 1:13 left in normal time. In overtime the Eagles proved to be just too much to handle with them snatching the golden goal with 2:17 left in the first half of extra time. Evergreen was so close to gaining all three points, but the taste of a first conference victory will have to wait.

The men's side followed suit with a seven-goal thriller, which ended in defeat for them as well. Evergreen made the game difficult for the visitors, but the Eagles found new ways to remain just a smidgen better than the Geoducks. Tied after normal time, the Eagles grabbed the winner with 23 seconds left.

Two weekends of back-to-back losses will hurt the Geoducks' hopes of finishing in the top half. Their performances were encouraging nonetheless. Next, the men face College of Idaho at home on Wednesday the 14th at 3pm and the women are away at the College of Idaho.

More detailed match reviews will be posted later.
