Loggers just too much for Evergreen again

On Wednesday night the Women Geoducks squared off against the University of Puget Sound Loggers for the second time this season.

The first time these teams faced each other, the UPS Loggers came away with a  74-41 victory in Tacoma.

Evergreen looked to get revenge.

Well, the quest to get revenge was short lived as Evergreen struggled to make a shot in the first eight minutes of the first half. During that time, the Loggers stormed to an 11 point lead that was going to be difficult for Evergreen to recover from.

Throughout the first half, Evergreen was put under significant pressure that forced the Geoducks into making tough that let the Loggers easily grab the rebounds and turn them into points.

In the first half, Evergreen shot a mere 21.2% , while their counter parts shot 32.1%  and were able to pull away from the Geoducks to end the first half down by 12.

When play resumed, Evergreen still struggled to make a basket, and the Loggers pressure didn’t look like it was letting up.

However, Evergreen was able to cut back their deficit down to 8, but that was short lived as the Loggers turned up their play and Evergreen failed to maintain their momentum.

Evergreen saw the Logger’s lead grow and grow as they turned the ball over a total of 11 times, while the Loggers didn’t turned it over once.

The second half was very similar to the first. Evergreen couldn’t get into any kind of scoring rhythm while the Loggers were scoring at will.

At the final buzzer, the score was the Loggers 66 and Evergreen 44.

Evergreen’s Sophomore forward Danielle Swain led the team with 16 points and 16 rebounds.

On Saturday, December 10th, Evergreen will be back in action against Montana Tech. Tip off is schedule at 5:30 pm in the CRC Gymnasium.
