To find our inner clown, we will play at being fools through vocalizations, physical and emotional exercises, and solo improvisation. We will kindle the spark of innocent fun to bring out levity and positive character attributes. The clown helps us with new perspectives and strategies for healthy living. Students will leave with an understanding of the varieties of clowns through culture & history and their natural inclination toward a style and its substance. This workshop is suitable for someone with no background in performance, and it will enrich a clown already on the path.
Bring your own nose or one will be provided.
Jusby has been a professional clown since 2005. He is a member of the Clowns of America International, World Clowns Association, and the current Convener of Olympia’s Clown Alley, the Red Nose Brigade. He is a graduate of the Simple Fool’s Silly School of Top Secret Esoteric Clowning and the Evergreen State College. He is a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader. He was a member of Doranne Crable’s Kagami Butoh Troupe from 1995-97.
Jusby has been a frequent host of the Olympia Clown Collaborative Salon and Clown Camp.
