God loves everyone (Part III)

Week two of Come and See with Evergreen Jesus Folk! This past week, I talked with Rachel Floyd about the group she leads, which meets on Wednesdays at 5.
Rachel: "We looked at John 4, in which Jesus meets a woman who society viewed as the 'lowest of the low' because of her race and because she was a whore. Even though it was not culturally acceptable to talk to her, He still does. The woman is very authentic and truthful with him, and Jesus loves her [despite what society thinks].
[We looked at this passage] to study why being authentic with people is important. In the passage, Jesus is at a well, and he asks the woman to get him some water, and he says that if you drink the "living water" that you'll never be thirsty again. We discussed what that meant to us. One of the members of my group summed it up with the idea that the water that Jesus offers isn't real water, it's the gift of God."
Whether or not you believe in God, that message is important for everyone, especially here at Evergreen where everyone is a little bit "different" but are still some of the most honest, accepting people I've encountered in my life. Discuss this and more of Jesus' teachings at this week's meetings. Contact Evergreen Jesus Folk at caleb.kytonen@gmail.com if you’d like to participate in any of the next meetings. There’s a group that meets on Wednesdays, another on Fridays, and one on Sundays. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about your Christian peers in a fun and relaxed setting!
