On Tuesday, October 25th, members of the El Camino: Latinx Studies, Latin American Studies, and ELL Education pathway hosted print makers of the Chilean feminist art duo Ser y Grafíca. They set up outside of Evans Hall pulling screen prints for and with students in their pop up studio. Lengths of cord supported the drying prints, weaving like a clothesline through the building entrance. Participants were invited to engage with their interactive space and the overall theme of “Dreams.” The event was a celebration of how art can help make dreams reality, highlighting the political significance of imagination and collective vision.
You can see some of Ser y Grafíca’s work hanging in the Library Lobby, in a display curated by the Seattle-based Chile Woke! The display centers around graphic arts’ role in recent Chilean protests and social movements. As the Serigraficas were able to activate our campus with their collaborative printmaking, this display celebrates the radical potential and legacy of public art. Go check it out. NOW!!!
